Work
Start with one focused brief in Work or Design, then open the available Document activity to make a real PDF, .pptx, .docx or .xlsx you can open, edit and send.
Two modes, no chat transcript
Work keeps the brief centred on an outcome, source files and review-before-generation posture. Designuses the same brief but adds design systems and a template library. Slides, Document, Résumé and Research can enter the current Document activity; canvas templates are marked planned and cannot run yet. There is no Chat mode or conversation transcript in this workspace.
The format button decides the document
This is the thing to know before your first try. Each of the four format buttons is tied to one specific kind of document, and the button — not your wording — decides which one you get. Ask the PDF button for a birthday card and you will get your content arranged as a résumé, because PDF means résumé here. Pick the button that matches the shape you want, then describe the content.
A résumé
Name, title, contact row, summary, experience, education and skills, laid out on US Letter. This is the only format that previews in the browser.
Generate a resume for Maria Chen, a senior product designer with 8 years at Figma and Airbnb, strong in UX research and design systems.
A pitch deck
A widescreen PowerPoint, typically 8–12 slides, mixing title, bullet, two-column, stats and closing layouts.
Create a pitch deck for Lumen, a B2B SaaS that auto-generates sales proposals; we're raising a $2M seed round.
A business proposal
A Word document with a cover page, section headings, a deliverables table with a totals row, and page-numbered footers.
Write a business proposal from Acme Consulting to Northwind Traders for a 3-month website redesign, $18,000 total.
A data report
A multi-sheet Excel workbook with a frozen header row, autofilter, alternating row shading and a bordered totals row.
Build a quarterly sales report with region, units sold, and revenue for Q1 through Q4.
The two pickers, and what each one changes
The Aesthetic System picker sets the document's accent colour — the heading rules, table header fill and section markers your chosen system carries. The Style Era picker sets the font family: sans, serif or mono. Both apply to all four formats.
Only a picker you actually touch is sent. Both load pre-highlighted, so leaving them alone is not the same as choosing what is highlighted — an untouched pair gives you the default blue accent and sans font. Touch one and only that one changes; the other keeps its default.
What it costs
A flat 10¢ per document, taken from your monthly allowance first and your top-up balance after that. There is no per-token charge on top and no tier requirement — the free Basic tier's $1 monthly allowance covers about ten documents on its own.
One thing to watch: a revision request regenerates the whole document from scratch rather than editing the file you have. Each applied revision is another 10¢ generation and another temporary browser output; it does not create a durable version or publish an artifact.
Limits worth knowing
- Your prompt can be up to 16,000 characters. Attached text files are read and added to that same budget, so a long attachment can push you over it.
- Length is guided, not guaranteed — a deck aims for 8–12 slides rather than promising a fixed count.
- Slide decks do not contain generated images; image placeholders are not filled.
- Only PDFs preview in the browser. The other three formats download as a file.
